Värmland
is by far the best destination in Sweden for tracking Wolves, in fact it
was in this region at the end of the 1970’s that Wolves officially
returned to Sweden. Today there are roughly 120 Wolves in Värmland
spread over around 20 territories several of which are partly in other
regions or stretch over the border into Norway.
Available as a day-activity or course, Vildmarks- guidens Wolf
tracking experience gets you far out into the wild winter forest and
lets you discover more about these magnificent animals and the world
they live in. The activity is more intensive than our snowshoe safaris,
but you’ll experience so much more. Here we can follow Wolf tracks far
into the forest and for each new kilometre you learn more and more about
the Wolves world and the animals they share the forest with.
We focus on those skills you need to track Wolves, in fact we will be
spending most of the time learning tracking skills out in the field. To
help you understand more about Wolves we also look at their ecology,
behaviour and conservation.
Depending on snow conditions we follow the tracks on foot or by using
snowshoes, but first we have to find them. To do this we travel round
remote forest roads while keeping a lookout for big paw prints in the
snow. Once we find interesting tracks we follow them deep into the
silent forest.
Leading you during this experience is an experienced and friendly
guide with many years tracking experience. Your guide will give you an
in-depth insight into the everyday lives of the forest animals, how they
interact with each other and some of the myths that surround them.

The Wolf Tracking Experience is available as a day/multi-day activity
or course and is aimed at active people who have an interest in Wolves
and wild forests. Maximise your experience and book two or more days. If
required we can help you find accommodation that suits your needs.
Courses are run from your accommodation and can be tailored to suit your
needs.
The Wolf Tracking Experince is available in eastern and northern
Värmland. Good starting points are from Hagfors, Filipstad or Stöllet.
Wolf territories we focus on are: Brattfors, Sandsjön, Aamäck and
Acksjön.
