Vildmarksguiden strives towards sustainable and responsible tourism.
That means that our activities, while keeping a high quality should also
have a minimal impact on the environment in which we work. We think that
its extremely important to respect nature and work towards sustainable
tourism and we want to teach our customers to do the same. It doesn’t
require much, its just a case of being sensible. Below is a list of what
Vildmarksguiden does when planning and running activities:
When researching new activities we follow six basic principles:
- How will the activity support the local economy?
- How do we minimise disturbance of the animals which we are there
to see?
- How do we minimise wear and tear on local ecosystems?
- What environmental problems should we inform our customers
about?
- How can we take responsibility for environmental work?
- How should we respect and protect local culture and traditions?
When running activities it is important that:
- Vildmarksguiden and its guides have excellent knowledge about
nature, animal behaviour and the ecosystems we encounter on
activities.
- Activities should not disturb, threaten or alter animals natural
behaviour. We do not follow animals which react shyly or seek cover.
- Whenever possible activities and Vildmarksguiden should use
local services. Where meals are included they should be based on
locally produced foods.
